Donna McDonnell

Growing up in Ottawa, Ontario, Donna created art in one form or another for as long as she can remember. Through the years, she studied art in various mediums and subjects while working as a registered nurse. In 1987, she attended Algonquin College in Graphic Design, winning numerous awards and graduated top student in her class. She was employed as a graphic designer and illustrator in Ottawa for over ten years, before moving west in 2006.

Because of how much she enjoyed doing monotypes and the printmaking process, Donna recently studied printmaking for two years at North Island College in Comox, and was hooked. Her reductive woodcut, “Mossy Shore, Qualicum Beach” won third place in the Arrowsmith Chapter FCA Spring Show in 2023. Most of her work depicts nature and the landscape of our beautiful Island.

Donna is a Signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA), and Pastel Artists Canada (PAC), and is a member of both the Arrowsmith Chapter of the FCA and the Comox Valley Printmakers Association (CVPA).
