A Through Line is a connecting theme which links a diverse collection of people and ideologies. The Comox Valley Printmakers Association (CVPA) is a collective of like-minded individuals in that printmaking is the medium in which we choose to express ourselves. Our through line is the idea of landscape. For each of us, the idea of landscape is rich and varied. It can go from the literal to the abstract, from the external to the internal, and to the social and political as well. The artist’s meaning of landscape is unique to themselves as is the way they process their relationship to it. The printmaking processes used by members of the CVPA have a broad range but the significant through line is that all the prints are original hand pulled prints. This exhibition is the exploration of landscape and the various relationships the members of the CVPA have with it. The printmaking methods used to process our through line of landscape include: collagraph, dry point, eco printing, intaglio (etching), linocut, mokulito, mokuhunga, monotype, serigraph (silk screen) and wood block.

Printmaking Demos:

Saturday, 15 February 1-3pm – Maggie Norman will demo printing aluminum tape plates with a small repurposed Big Shot press and/or printing a drypoint on recycled plastic using foot power and body weight.
Saturday, 22 February 1-3pm – Susan Gillespie and David Ballantyne will demo carving lino and hand printing.
Saturday, 01 March 1-3pm – Terri Stelfox will demo creating a watercolour monoprint with a small 3D open-source printed press.
